McDermotts sponsor 270-mile charity bike ride

McDermotts have proudly sponsored the ‘Orlaith the Way to Donegal 2024’ charity bike ride. From Thursday 30th May to Saturday 1st June 2024, the three-day journey covered 270 miles and elevation gains of 10,000 feet which departed from Cork in the South of Ireland, cycling ‘Orlaith the way’ to the northwest of Ireland, in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal.

Our sponsorship supported day one of their three-day journey which saw 56 cyclists complete the bike ride to fundraise for two great charities: NICE and Pieta House.

NICE is a charity based in Birmingham which believes that every person with a movement disorder has the potential and the right to specialised services which recognise their needs, desires and wishes. The charity works with disabled children and adults to provide services and training in the field of Conductive Education. For more information please visit the NICE website.

Pieta House offers much needed support to those in suicidal distress, bereaved by suicide or engaging in self-harm. They provide a free, therapeutic approach to those people, offering 24/7 support. For more information please visit the Pieta website.

Congratulations to the McDermotts workers who completed this phenomenal challenge: John Moriarty, Sean Fahy and Liam Kerr. The team are close to reaching their £10,000 fundraising target for the charities and donations are highly appreciated. Donations can be made directly to the fundraising page by clicking this link.
