McDermotts were proud to be chosen by DIY SOS to support the development of a brand-new children’s counselling and therapy centre. The new facility located at the Treetops Hospice in Risley, Derbyshire, has been built to support children with, or know someone with a terminal illness.
The project got underway in September and was completed with support from McDermotts volunteers, alongside additional volunteers across many trades.
Nick Knowles, DIY SOS presenter said: “It is always amazing to me that people in the toughest of times will still come out, because they want to help people who are in an even tougher situation. What we are building is so important for the kids in Derbyshire, it is so good to see people turning out.”
Treetops Hospice said: “The centre will benefit traumatically bereaved children and families across Derbyshire for many years to come.”
The DIY SOS Big Build for Children in Need will be televised during Children in Need week between 13th – 17th November 2023.
