Training and development

We value our people that’s why we invest in training and development to ensure they’re the best at what they do. We have minimum training requirements for all roles which are often higher than industry requirements and we regularly review training plans to ensure they are up-to-date.

We also have a robust annual review process which provides an opportunity for staff to discuss progress and future goals.

Internships and placements

Each year we offer two students the opportunity to gain experience in the construction industry. As part of this 12-month structured programme, the students will spend time at head office learning about each of the different departments before joining one of our teams out on site. As well as practical experience, the programme includes obtaining a CSCS card and other construction-related training.

Applications are open October to February each year.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships offer the chance to learn skills while gaining practical experience in a work environment. As well as training at our purpose built academy and joining one of our teams on site, apprentices have the option to undertake industry recognised qualifications.

All our groundworks apprenticeships are managed by Salutem.

Apprentice applications are now closed for 2022.

BuildForce Alliance

We’re proud to support Buildforce, an alliance of construction employers, industry bodies and service charities, which helps service leavers find careers within construction.

These partnerships allow the construction industry to tap into a unique talent pool of 14,000 military personnel that leave the armed forces each year and are recognised for their leadership, teamwork and project management skills.

Subcontractors are an essential part of our success. They form an extended part of our business so we’re committed to working collaboratively to deliver value to our customers.

Our approach is based on building long term, mutually beneficial relationships with subcontractors who share our values and consistently provide the highest levels of safe working, quality, expertise and professionalism.

All subcontractors are required to register with the PQS Pre-Qualification SchemeTM and apply for the Health & Safety Assessment. This will involve answering questions, uploading documentary evidence and providing insurance documentation.

PQS is a SSIP Registered Member Scheme offering a transferable and recognised SSIP Health & Safety Assessment.

If you already hold a valid SSIP certificate, then please register with PQS and apply via the Deem to Satisfy route.

Please note this approval process is no guarantee of any future contractual engagement. Approved subcontractors will be contracted if and when suitable opportunities arise.
