McDermotts contributes to local communities throughout 2023

Throughout 2023, at McDermotts we have continued our commitment to our people and communities by supporting a range of good causes, including community and customer projects and our apprenticeship programme continues to develop.

We have proudly sponsored seven sports teams, achieved 420 volunteering hours, supported the DIY SOS Big Build for Children in Need, created a prayer garden at a local school and rebuilt damaged walls at a local church.  Alongside this, we continued our weekly volunteering at our local community centre and welcomed five new apprentices to the team. We have also supported customer community projects, such as developing a car park for a community centre.

Our fundraising for charitable causes continued, in support of our partnering charities: Samaritans Brierley Hill and Aston & Nechells Foodbank, together with numerous smaller charities. We also organised foodbank collections on our construction sites, sponsored the children’s Christmas toy tree and choirs at Heartlands Hospital, and supported the Crisis at Christmas charity by providing Christmas lunches for people facing homelessness.

We continued to invest in health and safety initiatives, by situating defibrillators on our construction sites and, as part of our legacy when we complete a project, the defibrillator will be located within the community.

In August of 2024 McDermotts will celebrate 30 years of business and we are looking forward to achieving this milestone with our people and communities.
