McDermotts is leading the way with certification to the new ISO 2015 standards

We are delighted to become one of the first groundworks and civil engineering companies in the UK to be certified to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, the newly revised international standards for Quality Management Systems and Environmental Management Systems.

Managing Director Malcolm McDermott said, “Becoming one of the first groundworks and civil engineering companies in the UK to achieve this certification demonstrates McDermotts is an organisation that strives for excellence in its approach to quality and environmental responsibility.”

Following a comprehensive review of its documentation, audits on several projects on site as well as discussions with a variety of employees, the company was commended for the measures put in place to control risk and develop its workforce.

ISO is the world’s largest developer of voluntary international standards which acknowledge industry best practice. The new standards include a number of concepts that McDermotts was able to demonstrate including understanding of business context, demonstrable leadership, lifecycle thinking, risk-based thinking, and the adoption of the process approach.

McDermotts integrated management system has been accredited to ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2008 for many years and transition to the new standards was a natural step for the business.

McDermotts is also certified to OHSAS18001 and the Achilles Building Confidence Scheme.
