Mental Health Awareness Week 2022

Mental Health Awareness Week 2022

In support of Mental Health Week 2022, McDermotts colleagues got together for a taster of ‘sitting zumba’.

The theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is loneliness. This is an issue that can affect anyone at any time, young or old. The Mental Health Foundation provide guidance on the many ways people can try to overcome loneliness, including doing things you enjoy, keeping in touch with those around you, joining a group and helping someone else feel connected.

McDermotts colleagues have been provided with an overview of this information during the month of May through a series of posters at head office and at project sites.

Nine colleagues tried sitting zumba and everyone said how much they enjoyed it – with lots of requests to make it a more regular thing! As a result, we’ll be holding similar sessions on a monthly basis, giving everyone a chance to come together and do something enjoyable – great for mental health and physical wellbeing.
