McDermotts are proud to announce that we have become the first corporate organisation in the UK to be certified as a ‘Defib Friendly Employer’, reinforcing our commitment to the health, safety, and wellbeing of our people and the wider community.
The certification recognises McDermotts’ proactive approach to installing life-saving defibrillator equipment, providing appropriate training for staff, and ensuring a lasting positive impact beyond our operations.
The new Defib Friendly Employer Standard is accredited by the Heartbeat Trust UK, a registered charity championing defibrillator provision across the UK. The standard has been developed through the associated Defib Friendly Forum involving industry experts and service users.
Henry Gilbert, Chair of Heartbeat Trust UK, commented: “We are delighted that McDermotts has joined the scheme to become our first corporate ‘Defib Friendly Employer’ in the UK. This demonstrates a commitment to both providing life-saving equipment, training on-site staff and leaving a legacy for both community and corporate use when McDermotts leave site.”
Henry Gilbert added: “With over 100,000 Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrests reported in the UK each year, it is essential that we learn how to perform effective CPR and how to use a defibrillator. Our specialist defib scheme is delivered through the PQS Pre-Qualification-Scheme, an established inspection body, and available for all types of organisations as an essential investment in saving lives.”
