Charity round up

To celebrate 25 years of McDermotts, we have been doing lots of fundraising for our chosen charities of Ronald McDonald House and Sifa Fireside as well as supporting community projects. Here is a roundup of what we have done so far.

  • Creating an allotment for The Pines School – this special needs school had been looking for support from local businesses for a while before they approached us. Since then we have helped transform the allotment designed by Chanel 4’s Alan Gardner and the children from The Pines are already growing their own produce.
  • Garden clean up at Nechells POD – we tidied up an overgrown allotment area and cleaned up the garden and playground areas.
  • Tidbury Nursery – we tidied up the outdoor space around the nursery.
  • In June we hosted our first charity football match at West Bromwich Albion Football Club and held our first car boot sale.
  • In July we had our annual Summer Celebration and a raffle to win a holiday to Florida!
  • In August, 16 brave staff members took on the fastest zip wire in the UK for charity!
  • In September, Team Wrong Direction aka Bobby Friel, Joe McDermott and Kevin Hogan took on the 1,000km Monkey Run in Peru. They were the first team over the finish line and arrived 2 days ahead of schedule!
