Sharing our success with good causes

Success always tastes sweeter when it’s shared and what better way than by supporting good causes. Here are some of the charities we have supported so far this year.

We donated £5,000 each to War Child and Save the Children

Managing Director Malcolm McDermott said, “We see images in the media of children and their families in need and it reminds us of the security we provide to our own children. Through no fault of their own, these parents are unable to do that for their children. These families need our support and these donations will allow both War Child and Save the Children to continue their good work.”

At our annual staff celebration event this year we raised £1,017 for The Battle Fund. With match-funding we were delighted to present Tom Stevenson with a cheque for £2,034. In 2013 Tom was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) which is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. The Battle Fund was set up to support Tom and his wife, Lian, during this battle. Tom grew up with some of our staff so it’s a cause that is close to many of our team.

And finally a staff raffle and match-funding allowed us to donate £1,000 to Saras Hope Foundation. The charity was set up by the parents of Sara Hoburn after she died from cancer at the age of 16. The Foundation runs a holiday retreat in Crete offering respite for children and young people from the UK with cancer and their families. This donation will go towards their 400 Capital Appeal which is hoping to raise £400,000 and buy the villas they have been renting.
