We donate £40,000 to our partner charities

Having partnered with Tommy’s and Papyrus for the last two years we are delighted to donate £20,000 to each of these charities.

Papyrus is dedicated to the prevention of young suicide. Suicide is the biggest killer of young people – male and female – under 35 in the UK. Every year many thousands more attempt or contemplate suicide, harm themselves or suffer alone, afraid to speak openly about how they are feeling. Ged Flynn, Chief Executive of PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide, said: “We would like to say a big thank you to McDermotts for their support which will help us to continue giving hope to young people who are struggling with life.

“Generous donations help to pay for potentially life-saving calls, texts and emails to our confidential HOPELINEUK service, which offers support and advice to young people and anyone who is worried about a young person who may be having thoughts of suicide. “

Tommy’s funds research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, and provides information for parents-to-be to help them have a healthy pregnancy and baby. To find out more about Tommy’s and what they do, visit their website.

Pollyanna Noonan, Corporate Partnerships Officer said: “On behalf of all of us at Tommy’s, we wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone at McDermotts for your generous donations. We’re absolutely blown away by your support over the last two years. Your dedication and consistency means the world to us – it’s because of people like you that we were able to be there for women and families during the pandemic when they needed us the most. We’re delighted to have had the opportunity to work with McDermotts – thank you for helping us save babies’ lives.”

Supporting charities has always been a big part of McDermotts and we hope these donations will make a difference to the people Papyrus and Tommy’s support.
